This web site provides information and support materials for a Project Review, or Postmortem, process that was first proposed by Tom DeMarco, Peter Fearey, and myself, Bonnie Collier in an article published in the July 1996 edition of IEEE Software. In the article, entitled: A Defined Process For Project Postmortem Review, we proposed a standard defined process for conduct of a Project Review and provided descriptions of the activities, roles and artifacts of such a process.
Since the article was released we have continued to encourage and support project review activities. As creator of this site, I hope it offers you basic information, support, and resources as you craft a Project Review for your own project or event.
They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. Those of us who have been at product development awhile would agree that sometimes projects feel that way. Why do we keep making the same mistakes over and over? One way to get off this roller coaster is to conduct a Project Review when your project is over. Try it out. I guarantee that you will never look at a project the same way again.
